Tuberculosis Relief Association, Kolkata is a 62 years old Non-Governmental Organization, founded in Calcutta (India) at 73 Lenin Sarani by some Doctors, Advocates and kind persons in 1945. Tuberculosis was then considered the most dreaded disease. There was also no clear line of treatment till the mid of 20th century. This disease used to spread like an epidemic in semi-urban localities where industries were located and surroundings were densely populated with lower class workers living in unhygienic and poor conditions.
TRA General Hospital, which chiefly worked for the patient of tuberculosis has been upgraded and developmental works have taken place from time to time to provide satisfactory in-patient medical care especially for middle-class and poor people from all walks of life.
